2022 Wrapped Around Your Finger

Spring of 2022 was cold and the Willamette Valley experienced a significant cold snap that knocked back the Pinot Noir vines. At the same time I was nostalgic for the months I had spent traveling around Central America and then the months in Argentina during harvest 2010. So I looked around for other varieties that hadn't been affected by the cold and decided to make a Malbec based blend, reminding me of the wines I had worked on in Mendoza. Wrapped Around Your Finger is 42% Malbec, 24% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot, 12% Tannat, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, from the Rogue Valley AVA in Southern Oregon. The fruit for this wine began growing right when my relationship with Chris started, and it developed and evolved in barrel alongside our love for each other. Made from all organically grown fruit, native fermentation, and 15% whole clusters, and then aged in a variety of sized, neutral French Oak barrels for 26 months. The nose is fresh with red fruits and spice. Bright raspberry and plum, cedar, black pepper, and low earthy mushroom, violets and a hint of tobacco. The palate is full of black cherry, black plum, and black raspberry, leafy raspberry tea, pepper, clove and anise. Perfect for sipping while nibbling some dark chocolate for a Valentine's full of self-love.
