2018 Malvasia Bianca 'Petit Doré Adoré' Eevee's Block
The 2018 Petit Doré Adoré is sourced entirely from Herb Quady's Eevee's Block estate vineyard in Applegate Valley. Herb is one of our most important grower partners and also one of the most talented viticulturalists in the state. Eevee's was the second block established at the Quady estate in 2011, and while Rhône varietals make up the majority of the plantings, mingled in with the headline acts is a miniscule amount of Malvasia Bianca that Brianne absolutely loves. The yields are so meager that we only produced 70 cases, making this one of our most limited releases this year!
Barrel-fermented and aged for nine months in a single 700-liter puncheon, the wine displays a bright, sunsplashed color. Like its namesake, it's a little shy at first. Tart orange peel and lemon oil lead on the nose, with white flowers and golden currant emerging after a few minutes' air. On the palate, persistent but subtle acid (the result of gentle, full malo) carries flavors of green apple, gooseberry, and floral liqueur that culminate in a fine, dusty almond note. From the dog days of summer all the way through to our holiday tables, we'll certainly adore this little gem on pretty much any occasion, and we know you will, too.
