Situated at 800 – 1000 feet elevation in the Chehalem Mtns AVA, are two tiny family owned vineyards; Nemarniki and Noel Family. Noel Family Vineyard is owned and grown by Michael Noel, and Nemarnkini Vineyard is owned and grown by Diane Namarnik. Both sites are on the young side (under 15 years). Noel is farmed organically (but not certified), and Nemarniki is certified sustainable. The vineyards were picked when acids were bright and flavors fully developed. Noel Family fruit went into a large open top tank whole cluster and Nemarniki fruit was destemmed and added on top. Then a sealed lid was placed on the tank until fermentation began – so this could be considered a “partial carbonic” style. Once per day we pumped over the juice, and then pressed it off when a little sugar was remaining and returned the new wine to tank to finish primary and secondary fermentation. It was bottled January 18th, 2017, unfined and unfiltered.
100% Pinot noir.
